What did these Senators get for flipping?

by @ 11:18 pm. Filed under Politics

The following members of the Senate voted “Nay” on cloture on June 7th, but flipped and voted “Yea” on June 26th (S. 1639).

Murkowski (R-AK),
Stevens (R-AK),
Kyl (R-AZ),
Pryor (D-AR),
Boxer (D-CA),
Craig (R-ID),
McConnell (R-KY),
Collins (R-ME), S
Snowe (R-ME),
Coleman (R-MN),
Lott (R-MS),
Bond (R-MO),
Ensign (R-NV),
Gregg (R-NH),
Bingaman (D-NM),
Domenici (R-NM),
Burr (R-NC),
Bennett (R-UT),
Warner (R-VA),
Webb (D-VA)

What were they promised? What could possibly have convinced them to sell out?

I think I’ll write to each and ask…

Dear Senator,

You voted for cloture on S.1639 today, but you voted “Nay” just a few weeks ago. Please tell me what made you change your mind about this bill.

I would like to know what incentives were promised to you and how you feel they will be benificial. As a tax paying legal citizen of this country, I feel I have a right to this information.

Sincerely,

Boycott the two-party system in 2008. Send a message and vote for yourself!

Whatever they got, it must have been substantial. As someone who was betrayed by one of these worthless idiots, I am FURIOUS. I know of several who emailed, called, and wrote explaining that IF he voted for this crap, he would lose their vote forever. He didn’t win by a landslide last time, so he must be planning to retire with a GREAT benefit package and funding on the side. He most certainly did NOT represent his constituents.

You guys are doubley screwed! Two “Republican” Senators (Kyl, McPain) and BOTH are for amnesty. Whodathunkit? At least here in MD (Mikulski, Cardin) I can leave all hope behind… — GN

Click Here Mind Control, I was once so disgusted I wrote in my husband for everything when I voted. Looking back I’d say it was a waste of my vote and didn’t send a message to anybody. The only thing it good for in a household difference of opinion I can say I voted for you and you never voted for me. That gets me somewhere sometimes. But that’s a once in a lifetime thing. I won’t waste my vote that the troops fight hard for me to have. Even if I can’t stand my choices, I’ll vote for the least of all evils.

Hey there! Remember me? I am so with you on this issue! I cannot understand what is going through the minds of these people we elect!!! Screw this stinking pile of purification! We don’t need a new immigration bill anyway; just enforce the existing laws AND BUILD THE DAMNED FENCE! If you want to see an example of what uncontrolled immigration does to the ethnic character of a any state, go to Kosovo. 100 years ago the majority population were Serbians; now the place is more than 90% Albanian! It can happen here too!

Why, yes … I think I do remember somebody named Civil Warrior … let me think — aren’t you the one who used to write something about Kosovo? :) WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?

Say, I read this week that the US is negotiating a withdrawl from Kosovo. Do you suppose its ’cause the population transfer/exchange/ethnic relocation is nearly complete? — GN

Well, as soon as I got home I decided I wanted to focus on the family…that plus I had a years worth of honey-dos’ to catch up on. Also there were some health issues I was dealing with that made me a little self centered, and not at all communicative, but I am starting to come out of my shell. I’m even thinking about writing again. Thinking, that is.

As far as the negotiations for withdrawing from Kosovo go, it’s going to have to happen sooner or later. The population movement issue hasn’t really been an issue for quite some time; sure we have returns issues from time to time, but the movement of mass numbers of people ended a long time ago. The U.N. mission (UNMIK) has been gradually easing its way out for several years, while OSCE is taking up the slack. Personally I don’t see any of the major NATO entities in place completely pulling out anytime soon, as there presence is pretty much needed in order for OSCE to accomplish its mission, which is to help Kosovo establish a national identity of its own, and to successfully integrate it into the European community, and possibly have it become a member of the EU at some point. Personally, I would much rather see Kosovo become the 51st state of the United States (had quite a few Kosovars mention a desire for that possibility); I think that would be the most hilarious thing to happen in the entire history of the world! Can you imagine the United States having territory in Europe! Europeans would frekin’ conniption fits! That would be so awesome!

From all I’ve learned from you and Leta, I’d say that Kosovars would make excellent Americans! — GN

I like the letter ~ I think I’ll borrow your concept and write my own. It can be my farewell gesture to my Senators and Representative.
Oh, you have inspired me, Sir ~ thank you!
