Practice Makes Perfect

by @ 3:29 pm. Filed under Milblogging, Troop Support, True Heroes

The following is from an MP in Iraq. Minor spelling and syntax changes were made to the original.

Oh, funny story for you and for you to share…the other day (we work nights so we were just waking up) we heard this BOOM….which well here is not unusual. It sounded close but we knew everyone here was in the wire. We found out later that 2 insurgents blew themselves up….get this…you ready… PRACTICING with their Suicide Vehicle Borne IED (SVBIED) !!!!!!!!! Is that not FUCKING funny!!!!! That happened across the street. That’s the 3rd guy since we have been here that blew himself UP.

ANYWAY thank you so much for all the support, it sux here..and we (soldiers) could bitch all day long, but we wouldn’t have it any other WAY. FIGHT them here not home!!!

OHH one last thing…please tell everyone the Iraqi people are not bad, evil, or whatever. They just want to live. Insurgents thrive because the Iraqi people as a whole abide by the rules. They don’t have weapons, and when the insurgents come into the village, villagers will tell us but because of bureaucracy nothing happens. Well the insurgents find out and kill them. The rest of the villagers are scared and we get hit!!! WE COULD EASILY WIN THIS IF THEY LET THE ENLISTED TAKE OVER……I AM NOT SORRY FOR SAYING THIS ….OFFICERS…..DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!!!!!!

OOOOUUUTTTTTtttt

I just love a good self-inflicted splodytard story. And a 2-fer to boot!

I can’t really comment on X’s beef with his command. He has never said anything beyond “they don’t know what they’re doing!” which I’m sure is a very common sentiment anywhere you look. It does show that he believes in his mission, he believes in the Iraqi people’s desire and ability to live in peace, and he believes in the capabilities of his buddies.

I believe in YOU, my friend! HOOAH!

Troops and kids - love it!
Gratuitous pic of Iraqi kids being “abused” by our military.

Speaking of pictures, check out the new button under “Intel” in the right-sidebar that looks like this:

MNF-Iraq Photo Gallery

It links to the Photo Gallery of the Multi-National Forces - Iraq web site (you know, the one Trevor built?). There are soooooo many cool images in these collections and hardly anyone has seen them. Check out the appallingly low “views” then see if we can bump those numbers by getting more people to check the pics out.

Sen. Webb (D-VA) Is a Big Whiner

by @ 2:35 pm. Filed under Gun Control, Politics

Check out this video posted on WaPo.com (I know, not THAT rag!) showing Webb whining about not having his own Secret Service detail like the President. If you don’t want to waste time watching the whole thing (he starts snivelling about 2 minutes in) here’s the transcript:

If you look at people in the Executive branch, uh, if you look at the number of people defending the President, uh.. and other members of the Executive branch, there is not that, uh, kind of protection available to people in the Legislative branch. We are, uh, required to defend ourselves and, uh I choose to do so…

Sooooo, are we to assume that poor widdle Webb, the big-brave-EX-Marine needs a tax payer paid posse to protect him? And that we should pay to provide Secret Service details to all 535 members of Congress? Or, is he really saying that the Secret Service should NOT be protecting Bush?

Just who is it that would want to off this Lion of Liberalism? Islamofacists? Certainly not! Right-wing nutjobs? We don’t play that game, homey!

Who would be the bigger target for an assasin, anyway? Bush v. Webb: there is no apparent upside to whacking the Senator. He’s not that important.

Maybe that’s the real reason he’s whining.

If He’s OK with FrankJ, He’s My Guy, Too!

by @ 1:41 pm. Filed under Politics, teh Funny

I liked Fred Thompson long before I knew all the facts. I also knew that Sen. Thompson was serious about making a Presidential bid in ‘08 when I heard him doing Paul Harvey’s show. Mr. Harvey was only supposed to be gone for a day or two at most, but Sen. Thompson has been on for nearly a month now. Hmmmm, it must have been “the stare” that convinced Harvey’s peeps to let Fred have as long as he wanted….

Meaner than Chuck Norris!

Anyway, FrankJ has brought to light the most wonderful of tidbits about Mr. Thompson that should make him a shoe-in for the Republican nomination. For instance, did you know:

That last one is sure to get the jimmy b and fmragtops votes!

He’s also got the folks over at Hot Air floating in a deep sea of red.

Animal Rights Activist Wants Baby to be Dead!

by @ 2:28 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

How could anyone want to harm this adorable baby?!?!

Cutie Knutie Baby Bear

From the UK Daily Mail comes this horrifying story of moonbats run amok (again)

The bizzare tale of the polar bear cub and the German animal rights activists is one of those that you have to read and then read again to make sure you’ve got it right.

The bear, Knut, is small, three months old and utterly adorable. He lives in a zoo, abandoned by his mother. This means he has had to be hand-reared by humans - successfully, it seems, as Knut is thriving, and poised to become the Berlin zoo’s star attraction. His fluffy features have been photographed as part of an environmental campaign.

But - and this really is hard to believe - not everyone is happy. German animal rights campaigners are now saying Knut must be killed. Why? Because he has been ‘humanised’. Polar bears are wild predators, and by hand-rearing this cub a gross violation of Knut’s animal rights has taken place, they suggest.

“Feeding by hand is not species-appropriate,” the activists’ spokesman, Frank Albrecht, said. “The zoo must kill the bear.”

Zookeeper Andre Schule told the psycho to buzz off — the baby is not going to die! “There will be no executioner coming for him, I guarantee you,” said Schule.

Hooray!

Watch this really CUTE video and ask yourself how anyone could possibly want this little guy offed.

Moonbat Monkey Stomp on the Mall

by @ 11:01 pm. Filed under Milblogging, Politics, Troop Support

There may well have been more of us than them. The “10s of thousands” of America hating commies turned out to be around 2000 by most guestimates. There were easily that many leather-jacketed veterans. What a sight to behold!

Naturally, I got very few good pics… I didn’t have a memory card in my camera until late in the day. DOH! what an idiot!!!!! Anyway, my story will pick up where the moonbats leave their hippie ghetto and start marching towards Memorial Bridge.

The “Good Guys” weren’t allowed to stand on the bridge which had been closed to traffic. Seems we didn’t have a permit for the bridge so we lined the road approaching it and both sides of the entrance. There were many, many more people who had crossed the bridge earlier to stand and taunt the commies on the Arlington Cemetary side.

View of bridge
Standing in the middle of the Memorial Bridge looking towards the Lincoln Memorial

I wish I could have gotten an aerial view ’cause there wasn’t anyplace to take a pic that showed all of the veterans and troop supporters. This is just a fraction of the people that lined the roadway waiting for the scumbags to prance by.

Good guys

The hippies started across with just a dribble. They seemed genuinely intimidated by the throngs of angry veterans who shouted “Traitor!” and other less savory messages.

Commies Commeth

This young head full of mush got one veteran pretty riled up.

Kissy Kommie

The veteran responding with “Give me a kiss right here!”.

Who is that guy?

Here are some assorted asshats and traitors and smelly unwashed hippies.

They just have to drag a coffin around at these blood fests. I hope the asshole dragging this one is haunted day and night by the brave Marine whose photo he plastered on the side of it!!!!

Update: Carrie emailed a link to this article from MilitaryTimes.com which sheds some light on the terribly deranged father of the deceased Marine. WARNING - you may need some Pepto after reading it.

Thank you Lcpl Alexander Arredondo for being an OUTSTANDING AMERICAN!

Eagles Up! — Counter Protesting the Commies Starts Today @ 14:30

by @ 8:57 am. Filed under Milblogging, Troop Support, Walter Reed

The putrid stench of treason and hatred for this great country is whafting in to D.C.

ANSWER (Asshats Against America) is holding the first of it’s “We Hate the Troops” protests outside Walter Reed THIS AFTERNOON (Thursday, March 15). If you can stomach it, here’s their little Encampent to Stop The War site.

Anyone who’s already here in town for the Gathering of Eagles and Moonbat Monkey Stomp Weekend is invited to come on down to WR this afternoon and Friday evening to see if the points on their jackboots are sharp enough.

UPDATE: The chicken s**ts didn’t show up! Stoopid anarchists. I guess you can’t expect much else from low-lifes who don’t bathe or wear watches. They probably don’t even know what date it is…

Alcove wall

The only cool thing is that it’s now near freezing, raining and these ‘tards are camping out in the open on the Mall in front of the Capitol building. Schweeet!

General Pace Doesn’t Need to Apologize

by @ 1:49 pm. Filed under Milblogging

I LOVE this man!

Vice-chairman Pace in Djibouti

“I believe that homosexual acts between individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts. I do not believe that the armed forces of the United States are well served by saying through our policies that it’s OK to be immoral in any way.”Yahoo!

Did he say we should kick all homosexuals out of the military?
No.

Did he say homosexuals are immoral?
No.

General Pace said homosexual acts are immoral. It is the policy of the military to disallow romantic entanglements among the forces, male/female or both. By saying that NO SEXUAL ACTS are tolerated, he’s not discriminating in any way against gays and lesbians serving in the armed forces. He’s saying nothing that is not already law or policy in effect right now.

Everyone who volunteers to serve in the military understands that certain “civilian” rights will be denied to them. It has to be that way for the services to operate at even a minimum level of efficiency. No one can ask you to stop being homosexual anymore than you could be asked to stop being heterosexual. One’s sexuality is simply not the point.

The point is cohesiveness. Everyone is assumed to be on the same level with the same rights, subject only to the chain of command. What difference does it then make to whom you are attracted? You can’t have him/her anyway!

Thought for the Day from 1LT Stephanie

by @ 1:17 pm. Filed under Troop Support, True Heroes

This email is not exactly chipper. It isn’t meant to spark a debate, or cause a stir. It is meant to make you think; internally. Consider what surrounds you, and what your life is like at this moment in time. I ask you
now, while you read these “thoughts”, that you consider the idea that somewhere else, there is a different turn on life. I do believe that in a life of comfort, where the basics needs are met (and met very well, indeed) we tend to focus on things such as the size of our houses, the newness of our cars, and how perfect and white we can get our teeth. It is a bit deep, I agree.

There is no clean water, people are killing each other like the animal, and I can’t even go to the mosque to discuss this with God.

I thought this was an interesting take on the conditions in Baghdad right now. Keep in mind, that Muslims can pray wherever they want, and commune with God freely in their mind, just like Christians. But what his man is saying, is that things are so bad that he can’t even go to a place of peace, of holiness, to pray for his life, his family, his city or his country…. Just like in Christianity, Muslims are encouraged to worship in groups of two or more, for part of the relationship with God lies in the bonds among His people. Imagine, if you will, the internal aguish one would feel if he feared for his life just to go to church….

“…But I am a damn Iraqi, born in this damned country…

Yet another quote I find interesting, and have heard many times, from many people. Usually they are discussing topics like fleeing, finding asylum, immigrating… And their despair is in the idea that the world hates them, and they are not welcomed anywhere, because they are Iraqi.

Hong Kong

My patient kept saying “Hong Kong” while under moderate sedation while we cleaned his burns. “Why is he talking about Hong Kong?” I asked one of the translators. “He says he wants to be in Hong Kong, not Baghdad.” “Why Hong Kong?” “Because, he says, it is very far away from this hell.”

“…1956…”

It is not a year in the past, although it makes a moment in time that is now in my memories. It is the time of death for one human. The doctor declares “Time of death, 1956,” as he pulls of his bloodied latex-free gloves to reference his watch. The rest of the team stands quite, and takes in the moment. The beauty of a truly genuine heart is that it knows not a difference in nationality, or the color of skin. It only sees what is truly important: life. Or in this case, death.

Carbon Credits! Git Yer Fresh Hot Carbon Credits!

by @ 1:29 pm. Filed under Politics

I’m going to start selling these things, since algore is doing it, too!

From Ecotality’s “Why the Gore Story Matters“:

So far, so good. So, where does Gore buy his ‘carbon offsets’? According to The Tennessean newspaper’s report, Gore buys his carbon offsets through Generation Investment Management. a company he co-founded and serves as chairman:

Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe…

Hot damn!! What a schweet deal! I think I’ll name the new company “Algore Said It’s OK!”. Only I’m going to sell ‘offsets’ to other people and not just to myself.

Instead of planting trees, I’ll plant daffodils and dahlias — yeah, that’s the ticket! Ooooo, so many ideas to hatch…
