Be Grateful You’re an American!
Here’s another one. I just can’t resist pics like this.
Navy Seaman Samuel L. Blanco, a hospital corpsman, hangs out with Iraqi children during a recent patrol in Husayba. He and the Marines of Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, paused the patrol to spend time with the kids. Blanco, a 25-year old from Justin, Texas, serves under Regimental Combat Team 5.
Ahhhh, I need a puppy…

I need to be an Iraqi kid so I can hang out with Seaman Blanco!
And, of course I’m kidding about wanting to be an Iraqi child. God love them for what they are going through.
It’s so great to see the “reality” of what our amazing men and women are doing instead of hearing the MSM versions.
Thanks for sharing

Mark – I don’t know what the problem is, but I can’t leave comments on your site. I don’t get the “visual verification” image so I can’t enter the random key. I made sure the browser accepts cookies from beta.blogger, but no deal.
Anyway, I don’t know why I didn’t comment the first time you posted the picture. I love the pic! If it wouldn’t take you a year and a half, I’d love to see all of the thousands you took.

Reading the body language. Jesus loved the little children because they are innocent. We all know how he felt in that small thing anyway.
But, as I look at this photo, I see a worrysome thing, and an encouraging thing.
The boy in the upper right. Look at his sideways glance at the Doc. Look at the way he is holding the arm of that darling little girl, and also the small boy on the right of the Doc. He is the one old enough not to trust the infidel. He is controlling both other children, and warry of the corpsman.
That is probably the story of Iraq. The older ones, conditioned to subterfuge. Willing to take the candy, then when your back is turned hurl a rock.
The hope is the two younger ones have not learned to hate like that. I just hope they grow up learning to lead. I also hope the ratio continues to be 2:1 favorable.
Sadam and his buddies were not motivated by Islam, they used it when convenient. What they were was wolves, terrorizing and consuming the sheep (common Iraqis). While I wonder if they are capable of it, I hope the young ones learn to rise above being sheep.
I find elements of the 7 Samari AKA the Magnificent 7 in this drama.
I hope I am not being too cynical. Actually I am a pain in the butt optomist. Ask anyone.
But to me the photo is very telling

Mrs. Diva – Thanks for checking on pups. I still don’t know what I want and will probably end up with a ‘rescue’ or pound dog.
jim b – Yes, this does sound a little pessimistic for you! I saw the same thing in the older boy’s eyes, but the obvious joy of the two wee ones overpowered my own natural pessimism.

I couldn’t get the picture either but have good time at Walter Reed, and I’m also looking forward to a report with pictures (I hope I get, I usually do) of the golf event tomorrow.
